With the Melting of the Snows was a project in response to Martin Bell’s final radio broadcast as the BBC War correspondent in which he reflects on reporting the Bosnia War. The resulting artist’s Book contains images by Paul Coldwell and a transcript of the text by Martin Bell. The bookwork was shown as part of an installation with ‘an abandoned landscape’ of 19 bronzes, each a skeletal image of an object, such as a book, a child’s toy, a bottle and a picture frame at the Eagle Gallery in 1998 and then again in the survey show of Coldwell’s work By this I mean… at Arthouse in Dublin in 1999.  The complete set of individual prints and bookwork were acquired by the Imperial War Museum and the Tate Gallery.

The bookwork was printed by Michael Taylor at Paupers Press, London.
